Application Development Engineer, Conductor Cores
to join our team!
In this key position, you will take ownership of Exel’s conductor core products, ensuring their development and optimization to meet market and customer demands. You will work closely with the conductor core Product Manager and the Application Development Engineer to ensure a smooth transition into the role. As part of the Engineered Solutions Business Unit’s Application Engineering team, your work will have a direct impact on our business success and strategic direction.
We are seeking a candidate with strong expertise in engineering and a deep understanding of power transmission technologies, particularly in overhead transmission lines and composite conductor cores. The position is based in Finland, preferably at our Mäntyharju factory, and reports to the Director, Application Engineering, BU Engineered Solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimization of conductor core products
- Perform feasibility studies and technology fit analysis
- Provide technical support to the conductor core sales team and customers
- Perform cost and technical calculations, as well as troubleshooting
- Take full responsibility and leadership (project management) for assigned development projects
- Manage technical and product documentation
- Executing the ramp-up process for new products
- Handling product-related change management and quality planning
- Support production in their daily activities and technical problem-solving
Your Skills and Qualifications
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, technical degrees are a plus
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in overhead transmission lines and conductors
- Strong technical understanding (e.g. mechanical engineering, structural analysis, strength calculations)
- Experience of working in customer interface and industrial production are a plus
- Project management experience in product development and customer projects
- Ability to create and perform project and development plans, schedules and budgets
- Self-driven with a continuous learning mindset, particularly in composite materials and power transmission applications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English
- Cross cultural understanding and teamwork capability
