Are you passionate about innovation and product development? At Exel Composites, we are seeking an Application Development Engineer to join our team in Kapfenberg, Austria! In this role, you will play a key part in supporting technical sales, sales and production through the development of cutting-edge composite solutions. This permanent and full-time position is based at our Austrian factory in Kapfenberg, and you will report to the Director of Application Engineering, BU Engineered Solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities
As an Application Development Engineer, you will:

  • Provide technical support to the sales organization, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze technology compatibility.
  • Drive the development, optimization, and design of new products.
  • Perform profile costings, technical calculations, and troubleshooting in customer interfaces.
  • Take full ownership of assigned projects, including project management and leadership.
  • Manage technical, product, and quality documentation, as well as ERP documentation.
  • Lead product approval, release to production, and oversee product-related change management.

What You Bring to the Team
To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Plastics Engineering, Composites Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering, structural analysis, strength calculations, and load testing.
  • A proactive problem-solving mindset and self-motivation to continuously develop new skills.
  • The ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, projects, and work environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in German and English; other languages are an asset.
  • A collaborative and customer-focused attitude.
