We are looking for a forward-thinking
COMPOSITES APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
to join our team!
In this role you will be supporting our Technical Sales, Sales, and Production in their daily and long-term activity through a new product design and development. In addition, your tasks will include engineering support on site, production documentation and executing the ramp-up processes. The position is located at our US factory in Erlanger. You will report to the Director Application Engineering, BU Engineered Solutions.
Your main responsibilities and tasks include:
- Provide technical support to the sales organization and customers
- Conduct feasibility studies and technology fit analyses for new applications
- Lead new product development, optimization, and design activities
- Perform profile costings, technical calculations, and troubleshooting in customer interface
- Take overall responsibility and leadership (project management) of assigned projects
- Manage technical documentation, product documentation, quality documentation, ERP documentation, and oversee product approval and release to production, including product-related change management
- Work effectively across departments, demonstrating professionalism, resilience, and a collaborative mindset in a growing and evolving organizational environment
Desired skills and competencies:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Composites Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Experience in mechanical design, process engineering, structural analysis, strength calculations, and ideally some exposure to composite manufacturing
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software for basic FRP profile design tasks
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and process troubleshooting skills, with a proactive attitude toward resolving technical challenges
- Self-motivation and initiative for continuous learning and development, especially in the field of composite materials and applications
- Good verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English for communication with international customers, suppliers, and team members; other languages are a plus
