Camouflage net poles for modern military concealment

Effective military concealment depends on more than the camouflage net itself. The support system must be easy to transport, quick to deploy and strong enough to hold the net in the right shape across different terrain and weather conditions.

Exel’s telescopic camouflage support poles are used as support units for camouflage net systems and other military concealment applications. They are designed to help create a smooth, natural net profile without sharp angles or visible shadows, supporting the overall effectiveness of the concealment system.

The poles are suitable for use in demanding environments, including snow, mud, sand, heat and wet conditions. Composite materials do not rust, making them well suited for repeated use in harsh outdoor military applications.

Composite camouflage net poles

Exel camouflage net support poles are telescopic composite pole systems designed for military camouflage and concealment applications. They are available as one-section to six-section poles, with heights up to 9 meters. Standard tube diameters include 23, 30, 37, 44, 51 and 58 mm.

Glass fiber reinforced composite is used as the standard material. The composite construction provides a lightweight and stiff structure that is well suited for telescopic systems and helps avoid permanent deformation under normal elastic loading.

The poles are supplied with system components including spreaders, rubber necks, ground feet, optional step-on rings and  guy wires and lock adjustment keys, depending on the required system configuration.

Why choose Exel composite camouflage net poles?

Lightweight for easy handling and deployment:Weight matters in field operations. Exel composite camouflage support poles are designed to be lightweight, making them easier to transport, handle, adjust and deploy. This supports faster installation and easier use in changing operational environments.

Fast, tool-free set-up: The telescopic system is easy to adjust according to the required height. The locking mechanism clearly indicates open and closed positions and can be tightened by hand without tools, supporting quick field use and simple operation.

Durable in harsh conditions: Exel camouflage net support poles are designed for repeated use in demanding environments. They tolerate sand and dust and can be washed with water when needed. The system is suitable for use in different field conditions, from desert environments to snow, mud and wet terrain.

Corrosion-free performance: Composite materials do not rust, unlike metallic alternatives. This makes Exel camouflage support poles suitable for wet, humid and corrosive environments and helps support long product life with reduced risk of corrosion-related degradation.

Smooth net shape for better concealmentThe spreader and rubber neck are key parts of the Exel camouflage support pole system. Together, they allow the net to flex and form a smoother, more natural shape without sharp edges or exposed shadows. This helps the camouflage system better follow the surrounding terrain.

Multispectral system compatibility: Non-metallic glass fiber composite poles combine low thermal conductivity with low RF attenuation, helping minimize unwanted thermal and electromagnetic signatures. This makes Exel composite poles well suited for MSCN, ULCANS and broader multi-spectral camouflage systems where support components must not compromise the performance of the concealment net.

Designed for long service life: Exel poles are designed to provide a high-quality, long-life alternative to traditional solutions. The composite structure combines stiffness, strength and low weight, while the support system is built for repeated setup, takedown and field handling.

Integrated system design: Exel camouflage support poles are designed as complete support units with the key components needed for field use. Integrated features such as the crown foot, spreader and related system parts help simplify handling, reduce loose components and support reliable setup in different ground conditions.

Scalable manufacturing and consistent qualityExel’s continuous pull-winding process supports efficient, high-volume production of composite tubes with consistent dimensions and performance. This helps customers source reliable camouflage support poles at scale, with the quality and repeatability required for demanding defense applications.

Camouflage net poles for MSCN, ULCANS and MSSM systems

In the market, camouflage support poles may be specified under several terms, including MSCN support unit, MSCN support pole, ULCANS support system, ULCANS telescopic pole or as part of a broader Multi-Spectral Signature Management (MSSM) system.

Exel supports camouflage system providers, net manufacturers and defense industry partners with composite support pole solutions for these types of military camouflage and concealment systems. Our experience with defense applications, combined with composite material expertise and scalable manufacturing, helps customers develop reliable support systems for demanding operational requirements.

Why composites are ideal for camouflage net poles

Composite materials offer several advantages over traditional metallic solutions in camouflage net support applications. Glass fiber reinforced composite provides a strong, stiff and lightweight structure, making it well suited for telescopic poles that need to be easy to deploy and durable in the field.

Fiber glass also has low thermal conductivity compared with aluminum. This can be relevant in military concealment applications where thermal signatures are a consideration. The composite surface also enables comfortable, temperate stable handling in hot and cold conditions.

The poles are manufactured using pull-winding, a composite manufacturing process that combines continuous longitudinal fibers with crosswise reinforcement. This allows the tube structure to be engineered for the right balance of stiffness, strength, impact resistance and low weight. For telescopic camouflage support poles, pull-winding is especially valuable because it helps create durable, dimensionally consistent tubes that are easy to handle in the field while still providing the structural performance needed to support the net system.

Exel Composites is one of the world’s leading companies in pull-winding technology. Our long experience with this process gives us strong control over fiber orientation, tube performance and manufacturing consistency, supporting high-quality and high-volume composite poles for demanding defense applications.

The color is embedded into the composite structure rather than applied only as surface paint. This helps maintain color integrity even if the tube surface is scratched during rough handling. Standard colors are NATO green and beige. The color can be customized according to customer specification.
